About the Role:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and adaptable Senior Property Accountant to join their dynamic and fast-paced team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Property Accounting, this role will focus on reviewing and analyzing month-end financial results for the organization’s Commercial Real Estate Portfolio.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze consolidated rental income, operating expenses, and recovery ratios for assigned regions.
  • Oversee the setup and accuracy of straight-line rent schedules.
  • Prepare and present detailed analyses of major Net Operating Income (NOI) variances by region.
  • Assist with the preparation of Statements of Adjustment (SOA) and related transaction journal entries.
  • Prepare tax-related financial statements and supporting working papers.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Partner with Finance, Asset Management, Leasing, and Tax teams to ensure responsive service and effective collaboration.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and special initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Real Estate, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in real estate accounting and reporting; experience with retail or commercial property accounting OR Big 4 Audit experience with Real Estate clients is preferred.
  • CPA designation (CGA, CMA, CA) is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Word and Outlook.
  • Previous experience with JD Edwards (JDE) and GSS is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and levels of the organization.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, attention to detail, and solid accounting knowledge.
  • Proactive self-starter capable of working independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt quickly in a changing, deadline-driven environment.
