Position Overview:

Our client in the Real Estate industry is looking to hire a Manager, Tenant Recovery. As the Manager, Tenant Recoveries, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial insights and analysis to both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll oversee the integrity of recovery-related financial data, ensuring that accounting practices are sound, reports are timely, and controls are in place. This role also involves coaching and mentoring the accounting team, supporting professional development, and managing performance reviews in collaboration with Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team to help meet departmental goals and deliverables.
Oversee and review monthly portfolio-level financial results, including variance analysis for internal reporting.
Participate in quarterly reviews of financial working papers to ensure quality and consistency.
Support lease onboarding by coordinating recovery model development for newly acquired assets.
Validate and review tenant recovery setups within the Recovery Application to ensure alignment with lease terms.
Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of recovery data in portfolio reporting.
Collaborate with management, co-owners, and auditors on portfolio-level recovery reporting.
Enforce internal control standards by ensuring proper audit documentation and adherence to established accounting policies.
Identify areas for improvement in existing processes, flagging policy or procedural gaps as needed.
Perform analysis on recovery-related calculations and scenarios in response to business needs.
Contribute to quarterly recovery reforecasting processes and review final billing and budget models for accuracy.
Manage revisions and communications related to lease or tenant billing disputes.
Liaise with the Recovery Application development team to implement system updates or enhancements.
Take on other responsibilities and projects as required.

Key Qualifications:

Post secondary education in Accounting, Business, Economics, Real Estate or related field.
CPA designation preferred but not required.
Minimum of 4 years of full cycle property accounting experience, including property and recovery/lease accounting.
Strong experience with Excel.
Experience with JD Edwards considered an asset.
Ability to lead and direct others in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Ability to adapt to new challenges and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Solid understanding of accounting and internal controls and procedures.
