As they continue to scale, they are seeking a hands-on, analytical, and collaborative Controller to join their finance leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to step into a strategic role supporting company-wide financial operations.


About the Role

The Controller will be instrumental in driving the financial success of the organization by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial standards, and delivering critical reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making. This role involves working cross-functionally with departments such as operations, sales, and procurement, and will report to senior leadership.


Key Responsibilities

🔍 Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).

  • Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and provide insights for decision-making.

  • Develop internal reports and dashboards to track KPIs and financial trends.


💼 Accounting Operations

  • Oversee the accounting function including AP, AR, and general ledger activities.

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles and internal policies.

  • Manage Canadian taxation filings; U.S. tax experience is a plus.


🔐 Financial Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain internal controls and ensure the integrity of financial data.

  • Support audit processes and respond to audit inquiries.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements.


📊 Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Contribute to the annual budget process and support ongoing forecasting.

  • Monitor actuals against budget and suggest course corrections as needed.


⚙️ Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function.

  • Support the rollout of new systems or financial tools to increase efficiency.


🤝 Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with procurement, operations, and sales teams to align on financial goals.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors and tax advisors.


🌱 Team Development

  • Mentor and guide finance team members to build capacity and performance.

  • Stay informed on evolving accounting regulations and best practices.


About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is preferred.

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial regulations.

  • Proficiency in financial software (QuickBooks, ERP systems) and Excel.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and a proactive problem-solver.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
