Our client is a well-established and growing manufacturing company with a strong reputation for delivering quality products and innovative solutions. As they continue to scale, they are seeking a hands-on, analytical, and collaborative Controller to join their finance leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to step into a strategic role supporting company-wide financial operations.
The Controller will be instrumental in driving the financial success of the organization by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial standards, and delivering critical reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making. This role involves working cross-functionally with departments such as operations, sales, and procurement, and will report to senior leadership.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and provide insights for decision-making.
Develop internal reports and dashboards to track KPIs and financial trends.
Oversee the accounting function including AP, AR, and general ledger activities.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
Ensure adherence to accounting principles and internal policies.
Manage Canadian taxation filings; U.S. tax experience is a plus.
Maintain internal controls and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Support audit processes and respond to audit inquiries.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the annual budget process and support ongoing forecasting.
Monitor actuals against budget and suggest course corrections as needed.
Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function.
Support the rollout of new systems or financial tools to increase efficiency.
Work closely with procurement, operations, and sales teams to align on financial goals.
Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors and tax advisors.
Mentor and guide finance team members to build capacity and performance.
Stay informed on evolving accounting regulations and best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in manufacturing.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial regulations.
Proficiency in financial software (QuickBooks, ERP systems) and Excel.
Detail-oriented, analytical, and a proactive problem-solver.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
