About Our Client

Our Toronto based client is looking for a Senior Revenue Recognition Accountant for a 6 month contract opportunity. This position is open to anyone living in Canada and can be entirely remote.

Responsibilities

This dynamic organization has an extremely complex revenue model that includes subscriptions, similar to those in a SAAS company, as well as multiple other revenue streams that require milestone billing and recognition. If you have industry experience such as consulting, legal, engineering, technology, or anything with complex project billing and revenue recognition models, you are the person we are looking for! To begin, you will assist in some very complex reconciliations to clear a backlog and then attempt to assist in standardizing and improving on current revenue recognition best practices. You will also assist in documentation of said process.

• Manage month ends i.e.: journal entries and reconciliations
• Variance analysis
• Review accounting memos to ensure accurate revenue recognition
• Process improvements ie: automation and standardizing processes company wide

Qualifications

• CPA designation
• US GAAP experience is a MUST
• 5+ years of experience with revenue recognition
• You must have at least some exposure to NetSuite
• Advanced Excel skills
• A natural leader with excellent communication and project management skills
