Position Title: Senior Accountant

Our client is a well-established, family-run business in Ottawa’s Little Italy with a long history of exceptional service. Known for its collaborative, hands-on leadership and empowered staff, the company is expanding its accounting department and seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to support its continued growth.

The Senior Accountant will support the Controller in all aspects of accounting operations. This role demands strong Excel skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with bankers, auditors, and vendors. Our client operates 7–9 companies, making high-volume, multi-entity reconciliations a critical part of the position. The environment is entrepreneurial, team-oriented, and stable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare bank reconciliations, depreciation schedules, accruals, and prepaids
  • Manage cash flow and prepare reporting for stakeholders
  • Review intercompany transactions
  • Prepare financial statements for multiple entities
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Minimum 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sets of books end-to-end
  • Proficient in Excel and adaptable to new financial systems
  • Strong understanding of intercompany transactions and reporting
  • Experience with both manual and automated processes
  • Confident and mature in supporting senior leadership
  • Willingness to mentor junior staff
