Our client, a environmental services company in the surrounding Mississauga area, is currently looking for a Senior Analyst, FP&A & Reporting to join their team on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities
Financial Data Analysis
- Analyze revenue streams from electronics recycling, resale, and materials recovery.
- Review cost structures related to logistics, dismantling, shredding, and downstream processing.
- Monitor margin trends across different waste streams (e.g., e-waste, batteries, IT assets).
- Create an environment of innovation through continuous improvement and carry out finance department improvement projects. A high emphasis on machine-learning, artificial intelligence and business intelligence tools is inherent in our culture.
- Develop dynamic financial models to evaluate new processing lines, capital expenditures, vendor contract changes
- Track industry and regulatory trends (e.g., EPR programs, environmental compliance) that impact financial planning.
- Provide early insights on changes in material recovery values (e.g., copper, gold, plastics) and their effect on business performance.
Financial Reporting
- Assist the Controller with oversight of daily operation of the accounting department, including preparing monthly financial reports and analysis, treasury and cash management functions, internal controls, operational reports, annual audit, and government remittances.
- Key Finance Objectives include accurate and timely analysis of monthly management accounts. Strong, well-documented financial controls over all operational areas is required.
- Support the Controller and CFO by preparing operational and financial analyses, forecasts, key metrics reporting, and dashboard reports.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts tied to volumes of e-waste collected, processed, and sold.
- Model collection programs, processing yields, and profitability by customer or waste type.
Requirements
- Must possess a CPA accounting designation
- Minimum 5 years’ previous work experience in finance, accounting, FP&A or data analysis
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Excel and tools like Power BI, Co-Pilot, etc.
- Excellent communication skills – able to translate financial concepts into operational terms.
- A proactive problem-solver with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with recycling operations, logistics cost structures, or commodity pricing is a plus.
- Preference for candidates with SAP Business One experience
