About Our Client

Our client, located in Markham, is an exciting & dynamic utilities company and looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team.

Responsibilities

Reporting to a Manager, People Operations the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for but not limited to:
  • Process payroll for salaried employees on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly basis. Employees are based in both Canada and the United States of America.
  • Process payroll for hourly employees based on time cards
  • Process journal entries for corresponding pay periods
  • Prepare supporting documentation for quarterly audits
  • Ensure all transactions of payroll, pension, and benefits are accurate entered
  • Maintain and create appropriate payroll documentation outlining processes and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with respect to the appropriate tax laws as well as internal controls
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of payroll processing experience
  • US payroll processing experience is required
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and maintain attention to detail in an environment requiring flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • PCP or PLP designated
  • Proficient with ADP or Ceridian
