We have an immediate opening for an Accountant to join this amazing high-performing team. Reporting to a new VP of Finance, our client is a dynamic, nationwide membership based non-profit organization dedicated to the advocacy within the hospitality sector. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to play a crucial role in managing the financial operations for the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency in financial transactions and reporting. The Accountant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Maintain accurate and current accounting records, including processing AP, AR, GL entries and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and process monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports that meet the executive and board requirements
  • Collaborate with the VP to manage the annual budget process, monitor budget variances, provide financial analysis and make recommendations
  • Coordinate and oversee the annual financial audit and act as the main point of contact for external auditors
  • Assist the leadership team with financial insights and help make recommendations for decision support
  • Support other team members and departments to meet organizational goals by providing financial guidance and answering inquiries
  • Stay informed on best practices, and regulatory changes related to non-profit accounting and financial management
  • Analyze spending and explore cost-saving opportunities
  • Administer payroll for 20+ staff, including remittances, deductions, T4s, etc.
  • Process all GST / HST tax filings
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as required

The Ideal Candidate will bring a minimum of 4-5 years of experience working within a full-cycle accounting role. You will have post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance and experience coming from a non-profit/membership-based organization, or a public accounting firm where your clientele are non-profits is highly desirable. We are looking for someone with proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel and can bring a sound technical understanding of non-profit accounting principles. You know how to self-prioritize to meet deadlines and can adapt to changing priorities and a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for someone who has shown escalated responsibility over the first few years and is ready for the next step.
