Job Description

A growing rural fiber-to-the-premise (FTTX) provider is seeking a motivated Business Development Manager to play a critical role in expanding its presence across rural Manitoba.

The successful candidate will join a Business Markets team composed of Account Executives, Business Sales Customer Support, Sales Directors focused on Public Sector and Carrier clients, along with collaborative support from customer care, marketing, project management, and other departments.

This organization is actively building high-capacity, low-latency, and scalable fiber networks throughout rural communities. Fiber technology is widely recognized as the most future-proof broadband infrastructure, offering virtually unlimited potential for speed and data throughput—essential to the growth of cloud services, mobile communications, and emerging technologies like AI.

The Ideal Candidate:

We're looking for a “hunter” style sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys identifying new business opportunities and is motivated by results.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve monthly and annual sales quotas, including a target of generating over $7,000 in Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) from new opportunities each month.

  • Initiate and attend sales meetings with both prospective and existing clients.

  • Assess clients’ business needs and identify how customized fiber solutions can meet those requirements.

  • Collaborate with the sales support team to:

    • Prepare proactive proposals or RFP responses

    • Ensure proposals align with client needs

    • Address both business and technical questions

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position (minimum 40 hours/week)

  • Combination of office-based work (in Winkler, Steinbach, Lockport, or Winnipeg) and client site visits across a rural Manitoba territory

  • Travel is expected, especially early in the role, as you build and nurture your client base

  • Occasional work outside standard business hours may be required to attend customer events or meetings

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, commerce, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in B2B sales, ideally in telecommunications or a related field

  • Demonstrated success in achieving or surpassing sales targets

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team

  • Familiarity with telecommunications technologies, including fiber optic and wireless networks

  • Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by rural Manitoba businesses

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in preparing presentations, proposals, and reports
