Essential Tasks:
- Work with QHSE Manager to establish the documented HSE management system based on the ISO 45001 criteria
- Drive the ISO-45001 certification of the firm's facilities
- Perform internal audits on business processes at least annually per the ISO 45001 specifications
- Train the organization in HSE management criteria, procedures, and policies
- Develop and track monthly HSE metrics/KPIs for the organization – TRIR, LTIR, incident tracking
- Perform regular cadenced HSE audits in the facilities
- Establish and provide initial onboarding HSE training for new employees and record-keeping
- Provide PPE (personal protective equipment) recommendations for manufacturing, service operations, and any other floor personnel and work with the supply chain to source it
- Lead and document actions of the JHSC (Joint Health and Safety Committee) for Next Hydrogen
- Maintain local and federal compliance for HSE with WHMIS and Fire Safety
- Lead Ready for Start-Up reviews for new equipment
- Work closely with the Operations and Engineering team to review P&ID for safety improvements and Risk Mitigations
- Participate in internal HAZOP and LOPA for company-wide projects.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as an HSE specialist or HSE engineer supporting a manufacturing/service operation
- Familiarity with federal and local HSE regulations in Ontario
- Familiarity with industrial gas field infrastructure and implementation
- Capable of reading P&ID’s and developing Standardized Operating Procedures independently.
- Experience Leading HSE policies, procedures, and enforcement of them in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience working within an ISO-45001-certified manufacturing shop
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 policies and procedures and some experience in implementation of these
- Experience defining and documenting quality management procedures and maintaining proper training records/matrices
- HSE audit experience
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and build teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and handle multiple and changing projects
Education:
- Certification in health, safety, or environmental auditing
- Preferred certification in HSE
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree preferred
