Our client, a high-growth CPG/ Personal Care company, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales, Mass Channels with solid experience already selling to Corporate Buyers in Mass Retail. This is an exciting six figure role for someone ready to move to the Director Title. Note there will be no direct reports in this role.

The Director of Sales, Mass Channels will be responsible for managing key customer relationships, negotiating agreements, developing strategic account plans and maintaining and growing key accounts. This role is ideal for a passionate, results-driven strategist who is proactive, organized and a natural relationship builder, with a firm understanding of sales analytics, KPIs and P&L management. The individual must have a strong knowledge of the Canadian and/ or US Mass market category (Shoppers, Walmart, Costco, Walgreens, Target, CVS, etc) and the ability to cultivate relationships with buyers and brokers.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Sales, Mass Channels will perform a diverse range of functions including but limited to:
  • Define and drive short and long-term strategic goals, build and nurture key customer relationships, and leverage your deep understanding of Mass Channels, CPG sales, and CPG/ Beauty/ Personal Care industry trends
  • Cultivate strong relationships with buyers and brokers, and identify business opportunities within the rapidly evolving consumer landscape
  • Collaborate with brokers to enhance distribution, pricing, shelving, and merchandising strategies
  • Develop an intimate understanding of the client’s brand portfolios, brand strategies and priorities to create compelling brand and category stories for successful customer engagement
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with marketing, creative, supply chain, finance, and other stakeholders to drive cohesive sales and marketing strategies
  • Serve as the primary team leader with the customer and sales/marketing teams, building and leveraging relationships with Cross-functional counterparts
  • Lead and manage the team responsible for forecasting, planning, and executing existing and new business opportunities
  • Develop and deliver impactful presentations for major customer meetings
  • Take ownership of short-term and long-term business outcomes, delivering on volume, market share, and ROI targets
  • Drive distribution, shelving, pricing, and promotion support to optimize spending and identify fact-based sales opportunities
  • Accurately forecast the business and proactively alert senior execs of major shifts
  • Participate in Budget / P&L management
  • Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions about planogram strategy and execution



QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in CPG sales
  • Experience with the Beauty/Personal Care industry is an asset
  • Experience with CPG sales analytics, sales administration, budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian or US Mass market category (Shoppers, Walmart, Costco, Walgreens, Target, etc)
  • High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Nielsen, and CPG Analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize customer POS, inventory, and shipment data for informed forecasting and decision-making
  • Experience using fact-based data to influence customer decisions
  • Strong knowledge of promotional planning, planogram strategy, sales velocity and distribution strategies
  • Results-oriented mindset with a passion for achieving positive business outcomes
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced environment with a high level of adaptability
  • Experience and financial acumen regarding P&L management
  • Ability to network and forge alliances internally and with external stakeholders
  • Creative, entrepreneurial spirit, willing to do what needs to be done attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
