Our Client

Our Client is an amazing non-profit organization that provides assistance to women in need, strives to empower them in their day-to-day lives, and helps them overcome the challenges they face. They are searching for a Director of Fund Development and Communications to join the team. In this role, you are responsible for the development, management, and oversight of fundraising, donor relations, funding applications, and communications plans. Salary ranges from $97,000 to $113,00 per annum, with full benefits and a pension



Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to Fund Development & Communications staff
  • fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
  • Create and implement the development plan in line with strategic goals
  • Develop and oversee all fundraising programs
  • Support the Fundraising Committee
  • Build and strengthen relationships with corporations to develop corporate sponsorship and other development opportunities
  • Manage donor relationships
  • Oversee government and foundation fund development process including managing relationships, contracts, and reporting processes
  • Plan and oversee all special event fundraising activities including, but not limited to sponsorships, the annual Herstory Gala, annual Run
  • Work closely with the Executive Director on new funding opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Communications, Public Relations,
  • Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in fundraising, donor relations, and communications ideally in a not-for-profit.
  • Experience in managing websites and social media platforms for a business or non-profit organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relational skills, and demonstrated ability to work with donors, funders, volunteers, staff, and board of directors, ideally in a not-for-profit.
  • Ability to provide thoughtful, progressive, and strategic guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems.
  • Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve desired organizational outcomes.
  • Proficiency in donor database software and digital communication tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations
  • Must have a strong working knowledge and analysis of the issues impacting women in the DTES, including gender-based violence, mental health, substance use, and housing
