About the Role:

Our client is looking for a strong CPA designated Cost Accountant to join their team. This role is primarily focused on financial analysis, cost management, operational reporting, process optimization, business collaboration, inventory oversight, capital assessment, compliance, and control. Title can be Cost Accountant or Assistant Controller but job duties remain the same.

Responsibilities:
  • Cost Management: Maintain and update standard costs, including bills of materials and routings. Develop cost estimates for new items, collaborating with various departments to understand their needs and provide guidance.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analyses to support decision-making, including variance analysis, cost-benefit assessments, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Cost Monitoring: Monitor and assess costs to identify opportunities for reduction and efficiency improvements. Work with cross-functional teams to enhance operations and the supply chain.
  • Performance Tracking: Develop and maintain key performance indicators to track operational efficiency and provide regular reports to management.
  • Cross-Training: Acquire skills to perform additional tasks and roles within the department as needed.
  • Capital Expenditure: Evaluate and report on capital expenditures.
  • Reporting: Generate regular reports for various departments covering variances, labor hours, downtime, efficiency, labor costs, production metrics, and material usage.
  • Budgeting and Inventory: Analyze costs and projections, participate in budgeting, and manage inventory audits and reporting.
  • Month-End and Reporting: Complete month-end tasks and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and financial statements.
  • Data Accuracy: Validate data to ensure accuracy in analysis and reporting.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures, and collaborate with departments to comply with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Support Functions: Assist or lead in preparing financial statements, payroll, reconciliations, audits, entries, payments, transfers, and other financial reports as assigned. Support or lead departmental and cross-departmental projects and tasks


Qualifications:
  • CPA Designation
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or plant within a cost accounting role, ideally within the Food/Beverage industry.
  • Experience with multiple currencies is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems like Oracle or SAP are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing environments.
