Job Description

Position Title: Bookkeeper (Bilingual)
Location: Ottawa, ON

Our client is a well-established organization with a strong presence in the Ottawa region. Operating in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment, they are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bilingual Bookkeeper to take ownership of full-cycle accounting functions. This role is ideal for a bilingual (French/English) professional who enjoys working in a small team environment and has the ability to manage accounting responsibilities with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and collections
  • Handle all government remittances (HST, source deductions, T4s, T5018s, etc.)
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date general ledger up to and including the trial balance
  • Prepare and process journal entries, year-end adjustments, and accruals
  • Generate financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
  • Process payroll for a small team, including unionized employees
  • Collaborate with external accountants for year-end and audit preparation
  • Provide support with general office support and ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or a similar role
  • Proficiency with Sage50 or comparable accounting software
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Fully bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
  • Prior experience in a smaller office setting or entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to support ownership and stakeholders directly
  • Able to work independently and take initiative in a multi-functional role
